NZHG Partners with Volition, a New App that Champions Choice

The New Zealand Health Group team are always seeking to achieve equitable wellbeing for all. We understand how important it is to put the people we support at the centre of all we do, so that they can have their voices, needs, and preferences heard. That’s why we’re incredibly proud and excited to be partnering with Volition – a new accessible app that makes it easy for disabled people and older adults to record and share their voice, choice, and preferences.

Volition is a highly practical tool which will allow individuals to capture and share photos, notes and videos of the things they do and do not like: everything from their favourite breakfast spread to complex care directives and living wills. Rather than needing to repeat their preferences to multiple carers, Volution will give people the dignity of speaking once, and having their voice continue to be heard. We believe this will empower our kaimahi in consistently delivering care which fits the needs and preferences of those we support.

Erika Butters, Founder and CEO of Volition, is also excited about the possibilities that a Volition / New Zealand Health Group partnership presents.

“Volition is thrilled with this partnership. NZ Health Group is an important leader in the home and community health, and disability sectors. By working together we will be able to greatly extend our reach, and jointly achieve our mission of empowering more people as the decision makers in their own lives and care.”

A key part of our ethos at New Zealand Health Group is finding new and innovative ways to deliver an outstanding quality of care for those we support, and Volition fits that mission perfectly. As NZHG Chief Executive Jane Kelley said recently,

“We are delighted to become a foundation Champion Partner with Volition. We believe this technology will our ability to put disabled people’s preference and their voice at the centre of what we do every day. We look forward to the positive impact this will bring to the lives of the people we support.”
