Matariki Māori Support Worker Scholarship
The Matariki Māori Support Worker Scholarship programme is designed to help level the playing field for our kaimahi who have a passion for improving health equity and outcomes for Māori.
As a Support Worker, you play a vital role in our team, and are part of one of the biggest and most impactful workforce groups in Aotearoa. We want to support you to achieve your study dreams and continue to thrive in the health workforce.
Our workforce development scholarship invests $10,000 each year shared amongst successful applicants who are on a path to make a difference for health equity outcomes. A maximum of $5,000 can be awarded to any one individual in a year and the scholarship can be used to pay for tuition fees, living costs, or any bills related to your study.

Who is eligible?
This scholarship is open to all Māori Support Workers, who are:
- currently employed by New Zealand Health Group and living in Aotearoa New Zealand
- have Māori ancestry
- working as a Support Worker and eligible to study in Aotearoa

- Applicants must be active and currently employed as a Support Worker at New Zealand Health Group or one of its’ subsidiaries: e.g. HealthCare NZ, Geneva Healthcare, or NZCL.
- Applicants must whakapapa Māori (be of Māori descent) and be able to state their Iwi in their application.
- Applicants must live in Aotearoa.
- Applicants must study in Aotearoa at a registered education provider.
- Applicants must study a health related course.
- Applicants must submit their application prior to the closing date stated on the website.
