The New Zealand Health Group team is a 10,000 strong team and our training needs are wide and varied. The Review of Vocational Education (RoVE) has been going on for the past three years and we have continued to have a very close watching brief of the changes in play. One of the key focus areas of RoVE was to support employers more to enable them to focus on their kaimahi who are engaged in work-based learning in ways that made sense to their workplaces. Last Friday saw us come together to formally acknowledge our new relationship with Skills Ignite.
This relationship brings many things to us: it will enable us to provide more learner support to our kaimahi who are working towards the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing qualifications, it will give us access to build and deliver new qualifications in areas that we have not been able to focus on, giving our people better career opportunities and, most importantly, sometimes their first positive experience in tertiary education. Through our training company, MySkill, we can then share our mahi with employers within our sector, as we know that not all employers have the training infrastructure that we do.
Building this relationship with Skills Ignite is bringing two like minded organisations together in a way that RoVE intended: based on innovation, transparency, and putting our learners at the very centre of what we do. New Zealand Health Group continues to be a leader in building a workforce which will support the community health and disability sector to deliver more specialised support in different ways. We know that our health system is under pressure, and this partnership will support NZ Health Group to make the difference in thousands of lives every day, all across Aotearoa New Zealand.
